    Skill Matrix - Evaluation of Training in Pharmaceutical

    Learn concept and how to evaluate the effectiveness of any training regarding knowledge, ability and attitude of employees in pharmaceutical.

    1.   Introduction:

    Skill Matrix is actually mapping all the knowledge, skill and attitude of the personnel. Skill Matrix would be beneficial for the organization and for the employee as well.

    2.   Application of Skill Matrix:

    The application of Skill Matrix is in the Recruitment Process, Performance Appraisal, Training Need Identification, in Career Development and to assess the effectiveness of training. 
    The Skill Matrix Based on following Three Components,
    • Knowledge
    • Skill/ Ability
    • Attitude

    3.   How to develop Skill Matrix:

    The Skill Matrix can be developed with the combination of Knowledge, Skill and Attitude of the personnel.
        This may be divided into three categories,
    • Basic: Mostly deals with the knowledge of the individual.
    • Intermediate: Mostly deals with the knowledge and Skill/ability of the individual.
    • Advance: Mostly deals with the knowledge, Skill/ ability and attitude of the individual.

    4.   Applicability:

    Basic:   for Supervisory Staff
    Basic + Intermediate:   for Sectional In-charges
    Basic + Intermediate + Advance: for Managers/ Departmental Heads.

    5.   Score:

    Basic:                    Total No. of Work Areas x 10
    Intermediate:        Total No. of Work Areas x 20
    Advance:               Total No. of Work Areas x 30

    6.   Ranking:

    7.   Formula:

    A= (Basic Score x 10) + (Intermediate Score x 20)+ (Advance Score x 30) x 100
    B= 40 x (No. of Basic Work-areas x 10) + (No. of Intermediate Work-areas x 20) + (No. of Basic Work-areas x 30)

    10.   Conclusion:      

    From above “Skill Matrix” it is observed that the employee is well trained in Calibration and Stability Studies; however, he requires effective in-house training of Validation. Training will be given according to above mentioned Work-areas to enhance the Knowledge, Skill and Attitude. “Skill Matrix” will be reviewed after every 6 Months to assess the effectiveness of training.
