1.0 OBJECTIVE
To lay down the procedure for cleaning of glassware used in chemical analysis.2.0 SCOPE
This SOP shall be applicable to Chemical Analysis section of Quality Control Dept.3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

Sr. Officer Quality control.5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Rinse all the glassware two to three times with tap water.5.2 Dip all the glassware in liquid soap for 2 hours.
5.3 Remove the glassware from the liquid soap solution.
5.4 Remove the markers stains using commercial grade acetone.
5.5 Brush all the possible areas of glassware.
5.6 Rinse the glassware continuously with the running tap water.
5.7 Rinse all the glassware including pipettes finally with distilled water.
a) Dip the glassware, once in a month in the chromic acid mixture and keep it overnight.
b) Use safety goggles, rubber gloves and remove the glassware carefully from the chromic acid mixture.
c) Rinse the glassware thoroughly for a prolonged time with tap water, as glass tends to absorb chromic acid.
d) Rinse the glassware finally with distilled water.
5.8 Dry the glassware in a hot air oven at 150°C.
5.9 Remove the glass wares using gloves and cool to room temperature.
